Before I knew who would be treating me for my cancer, I was advised to ask for Mrs Carmichael, as luck had it, she was who I saw on my first visit. She immediately put me at ease and and I knew straight away I was in good hands, both Mrs Carmichael and her team were so caring while doing a difficult job of delivering “bad news”. Everything was explained fully in simple terms making the decision to have a lumpectomy the right choice for me. The operation went smoothly and I am really pleased the results, the scaring has healed and I’m doing really well. I’ve now had my results and found out I only need 5 rounds of radiotherapy, so would like to thank Mrs Carmichael and her team for all they have done for me.

I had a breast lump that was removed in November by Mrs Williams-Jones, it was a phyllodes tumour with LCIS which meant I needed more surgery, my care was excellent from Mrs Williams-Jones who then passed my care over to Mrs Carmichael as I needed more breast tissue removed and perforator flap surgery. Mrs Carmichael explained everything fully to me and was always professional, friendly and informative of my care, the surgery is excellent people I have shown can’t believe that although my breast isn’t “a real one” now, the surgery she performed has made it look real. I unfortunately had phumonia after surgery but she personally came over to the main hospital to see me to see how I was doing, I unfortunately spent a week in hospital recovering, Vicky Bradley breast care nurse also personally came over to see me, but once I was home and continued to recover I waited for the results which I was anxious about as if a clear margin wasn’t obtained it would have been a mastectomy. Mrs Carmichael has saved my breast which means you would never know I’ve had the surgery I’ve had apart from the scar which is incredibly neat and this will fade. Mrs Carmichael is an absolutely amazing surgeon as was Mrs Williams-Jones and I am so very greatly for what they both have done. I hope I don’t ever have to have any more surgery but if I did I would hoping and asking for either of these surgeons as they are amazing at what they do.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to be under the care of Mrs Carmichael. She's so passionate, professional, caring, considerate taking the time to listen & considered my life style when discussing my surgery. She explained what my journey would look like & I always felt at ease asking questions & was never rushed. You can tell she's so highly thought of by the staff within the Breast Care Unit also. I didn't feel stressed on my day of surgery as I knew I was in good hands, the procedure I was having had been explained to me, how I was likely to feel after the surgery & knowing she'd do her best for me which really helped. My post surgery care has been of the same care as pre surgery. An amazing surgeon who I'm privileged to be under the care of
